Nat�l Sanitation Day observed

National Sanitation Day and Global Handwashing Day were observed in Rajbari with great enthusiasm yesterday. District administration and Department of Public Health and Engineering (DPHE) jointly brought out a colourful rally from the Deputy Commissioner’s office premises and paraded the main streets of the town. Deputy Commissioner  Md Rafiqul Islam Khan presided over the programme. It was addressed, among others, by Kazi Keramat Ali MP, Kamrun Naher Chawdhury MP, Sadar upazila Chairman Advocate Abdul Khaleque, Assistant Police Super Md Rabiul Islam and Executive Engineer of (DPHE) AHM Khalequr Rahman. In Meherpur, the Global Handwashing Day 2015 was observed jointly by  Meherpur district administration, municipality, Public Health Engineering Department with the help of Save the Children, a global NGO. The theme of the day is ‘Raise a hand for hygiene’. To mark the day a colorful rally, led by Motasim Billah Motu, Municipal Mayor along with Farooque Hossain, senior Manager of  Save the Children project, was brought out yesterday in the town that paraded the main street from city’s Shahid Dr Shamsuzzoha park to Collectorate compound. After the rally, a discussion meeting was held at the DC’s compound with Shafiqul Islam, Deputy Commissioner  in the chair where  Prof Farhad Hossain MP was present as chief guest.
