A man was arrested with $50,000 when he was trying to travel to India through a border check post yesterday morning. Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) identified the man as Nur Islam, 40, son of late Alauddin of Mathpara village in Munshiganj district. Imam Hasan, director of Chuadanga-6 BGB, said they were on alert after being tipped off about a smuggling bid. "We found five smartphones and $50,000 concealed in Islam's luggage," he said. He was handed over to police while the seized dollars and goods were deposited in the treasury office.
