Woman jumps to death
Pabna: A woman allegedly committed suicide by jumping under a running train in Fateh Mohammadpur Kolabagan area of Ishwardi upazila on Wednesday, reports UNB. The deceased was identified as Motiya Khatun, 25, daughter of Abdus Sattar, resident of the area. Saidur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Ishwardi police station, said Motiya jumped off under a train while the train was entering Ishwardi railway station after changing engine around 2 pm and died on the spot. An unnatural death case was filed in this connection.
Boro seeds allotted for 2 dists
JAMALPUR: Seed Marketing, a wing of Bangladesh Agriculture Development Corporation (BADC), has allotted 2,650 tonnes boro seed for Jamalpur and Sherpur districts this current season, reports BSS. According to Seed Marketing office, in the current Eabi season 1,349 tons of boro seed have been allotted for Jamalpur and 1,301 tons for Sherpur districts. The office sources said nine varieties of the boro seeds will be sold among the farmers through 370 dealers in the two districts. The varieties are BR-3, BR-14, BR-16, BR-26, BRRI-28, BRRI-29, BRRI-58, BINA-10 and SL-8H (High breed). The sources said farmers can buy per kilogram seeds at Tk 35 to Tk 35.50 according to the varieties.
