Robolution competition held at MIST

Robolution-2019 competition, the biggest robotics event of the country, was held at Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) at Mirpur Cantonment in Dhaka yesetrday. Principal Staff Officer of Armed Forces Division Lieutenant General M Mahfuzur Rahman was present on the occasion and inaugurated the daylong ceremony as the chief guest, said a press release of ISPR.
Acting Commandant of MIST Commodore M Munir Hassan, head of EECE Department Brigadier General AKM Nazrul Islam and President of Robitics Club, MIST Md. Raduanul Alam Riad were also present on the occasion.
This is the fourth consequent competition arranged by Robotics Club, MIST. This year more than one thousand young robotics enthusiast students from all over the country took part in the competition. Among the nine segments of the event included line follower bot challenges, soccer bot challenge, bot fight, quad copter challenge, poster presentation, CAD designs, idea contest, projects show and gaming contest.
In the competition, 250 contestants participated in the line follower event, 200 in bot fight, 150 in soccer bot challenge, 70 in quad copter challenge, 60 in CAD designs, 90 in idea contest, 50 in gaming fest, 60 in poster presentation and 110 in projects show individually or in team.MIST Robotics Club is working towards providing an excellent platform for the tech loving students. So, students from every corner of Bangladesh emerged with their fascinating projects in this programme, the release also said.
RMU to establish psychiatry department

Rajshahi Medical University (RMU) will establish a full-fledged psychiatry department to supplement the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s effort to take the autistic and other mentally retarded children forward.The department will be transformed into an institute and the process of doing welfare of the children with special needs will be easier and meaningful.
RMU Vice-chancellor Prof Masum Habib revealed this while addressing a discussion on ‘Use of Assistive Device Technologies, Rights of Autistic Children’ in Rajshahi city yesterday as chief guest.RMU organised the meeting at Rajshahi Medical College (RMC) auditorium in observance of 12th World Autism Awareness Day-2019.Prof Masum Habib said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her reputed daughter Saima Wazed Putul are working relentlessly to turn the autistic and disabled children into human resources for ensuring their welfare and development. He asked school teachers and all others concerned to ensure their timely attendance to classes and educate the intellectually disabled, mentally retard and disabled children with love, compassion and sincerity to transform them into worthy citizens.
Autistic and mentally retarded children could flourish their latent talents if they are properly cared, nurtured and provided with necessary opportunities.
Prof Abdullah Al Mamun from Department of Psychiatry in RMC, who addressed the meeting as focal person, said the intellectually challenged, autistic and physically challenged children would not be burden of the society if they are provided with proper education and training.
