Ailing general secretary of the Awami League Obaidul Quader was released yesterday from the Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore, where he was treated. Quader, also Road Transport and Bridges Minister, was discharged from the hospital at around 3:00pm (local time), on Friday and moved to a rented house there for receiving further necessary treatment from the hospital, said Public Relations Officer of the ministry Abu Naser Khan yesterday. “The health condition of the minister is good. He will return to Dhaka soon,” he said.
Earlier, the minister underwent a bypass surgery on March 20 at the hospital. With the gradual improvement, he was taken to the hospital’s cabin from the ICU on March 26 last. The minister was admitted to Coronary Care Unit (CCU) of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) on March 3 last. Later, he was diagnosed with three blocks in his coronary arteries.
The next day, a Mount Elizabeth Hospital air ambulance took Quader to Singapore for better treatment on advises of doctors including famous Indian cardiologist Devi Shetty.
