Anti-ragging rally held at IU

The students of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia brought out an anti-ragging procession on the campus on Wednesday, demanding to stop ragging incidents on the campus. Over five hundred students under the banner of IU Conscious Students brought out the procession from in front of Applied Science and Technology Faculty around 11:00am.
IU syndicate member Prof M Mahbubar Rahman, IUTA president Prof M Kamal Uddin, its secretary Prof M Alamgir Hossain Bhuiya, IIER director Prof M Maher Ali, IU Student Advisor Professor Paresh Chandra Barman, Acting Proctor Anisur Rahman, Islamic History and Culture department chairman Prof Anowar Hossain and Tourism and Hospitality Management department chairman Prof Mahbubul Arefin were, among others, joined the procession.
The procession ended in front of Beershrestha Hamidur Rahman Auditorium after parading main roads of the campus. Later, a discussion programme was held at the auditorium.
Speaking at the discussion, the IU Student Advisor and acting Proctor assured the students to take necessary action in this regard if they were informed about the incident.
Book fair on liberation war ends

A three-day book fair on liberation war ended at the Government Brajamohan College campus yesterday evening. Sangskriti Parishad, one of the leading cultural organisations of BM College, organised the programme.
The speakers at the concluding session said this type of book fair on different issues like liberation war, language movement, independence day, Bangla New Year, history and traditions of the country should be arranged in every educational institutions to make the students familiar with their tradition, heritage and history.
Cultural programme, art competition and discussion was also held in the three day's programme. A total of 10 stalls including Srabon Prokashoni, Barishal Reporters Unity, and Palash Handicrafts were installed at the fair. Mentionable Serniabad Sadik Abdullah, Mayor of Barishal City Corporation, inaugurated the fair on Monday morning.
