A tribunal here on Tuesday framed charges against three people including the driver, helper and supervisor of a ‘Hanif Paribahan’ bus for killing North South University student Saidur Rahman Payel in 2018.
Acting Judge of Chattogram Divisional Speedy Trial Tribunal Abdul Halim fixed also April 8 for the next hearing. The accused are bus driver Jamal Hossain, his helper Foysal Hossain and bus supervisor Jonny. On July 22, last year, Payel, a 5th semester NSU student and son of Golam Mawla of Halishahar in the port city of Chattogram, was found dead in a canal at Bhaterchar in Gazaria upazila of Munshiganj district.
Later, police arrested the superviser from Motijheel and the driver and its helper from Dhaka's Arambagh areas of the capital. On March 25, this year, Jonny, the supervisor of the bus gave narration of the incident before a court where he confessed to his involvement in the killing.
