Six of a fraud gang held

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) yesterday detained six members of a fraud gang, who in guise of customs officials used to mislead people and realised money from them.

The detainees are-- Nurul Haque,57, Shekh Alam,43, Firoj Alam,57, Mosharof Hossain,54, Masud Rana,43 and Renu Miya alias Roni, 38.

RAB-4 Commanding Officer Chowdhury Monzurul Kabir revealed the information at a press briefing held at RAB’S media centre at Karwan Bazar in the capital.

He said the arrestees had been cheating people disguising themselves as customs officials for long and they have already pocked crores of taka from different people.  He said the elite force raided in city’s Mirpur area and detained them at Tolarbagh yesterday early morning.

The official said the fraudsters amassed crores from 50 victims and have been deceiving people for the past fifteen to sixteen years.
