3 arrested with 10,000 yaba pills

Three alleged drug peddlers were arrested in the city and Wazirpur with about 10,000 pieces of yaba tablets. Barishal Metropolitan Police Commissioner (BMP) Mosharraf Hossain said this at a press briefing at BMP office yesterday.

He said, “On the basis of secret information, they seized 9,800 pieces of yaba tablets worth about Tk 40 lakh from Nasir Matubbar, 32, a passenger of cabin no 347 of M V Parabat-11 launch anchored at Barishal port after reaching from Dhaka” .

Police also arrested Azim Hossain, 30, who came there to receive the consignment of the drug. One motorcycle and five mobile phones seized from them, he added.

Police filed a case under Narcotics Control Act against the three accused and handed over them  to Kotwali police station. Later court sent them to jail .

On other hand one Jagangir Shikdar,35, was arrested from Otra under Wazirpur police station with 24  pieces of yaba tablets, said Shishir Kumar Pal, officer in charge of Wazirpur police station.
