‘Assault’ of NHA engineer by mayor

Removal of engineer demanded

Councilors and employees of Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) yesterday demanded the removal of Assistant Engineer of National Housing Authority (NHA) Ashrafuzaman Palash, who brought ‘false’ allegation against CCC Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin.  Protesting against the bringing of the allegation against CCC mayor, they demanded punishment of the engineer.

NHA Chattogram circle assistant engineer Ashrafuzaman alleged that the mayor assaulted him during a meeting on Monday evening at CCC over constructing a road in the city.

According to CCC sources, some engineers of National Housing Authority were involved in a heated exchange of words with CCC Mayor AJM Nasir during a meeting on Monday evening over constructing road in city’s Agrabad area.  

Engineer Ashrafuzaman claimed that he was assaulted by the mayor at that time.

Fellow engineers of NHA observed work abstention for two days protesting the ‘assault’. However, the mayor denied the allegation. CCC staff brought out a procession in the port city and formed a human chain in front of Chattogram Press Club yesterday protesting the incident. They also demanded withdrawal of engineer Ashrafuzaman.

CCC Councilor Chowdhury Hasan Mahmud Hasni said the NHA engineer is tarnishing the image of mayor spreading false propaganda.
