Man gets lief for killing girl in N�ganj

A court here yesterday sentenced a man to life term rigorous imprisonment for killing a college girl of Bandar police station in 2013. Additional district and session judge court no-1, Miazi Shahidul Alam Choudhury, judge of the court handed down the verdict. The accused was in fugitive, court sources said. The life term imprisonment awarded accused was identified as Touhid, 32, son of Hazi Abdul Kader, resident of 83 Khanpur branch road in the city. The court also fined the accused Tk 50,000 in default, suffer 3 years more imprisonment. According to the prosecution story, the accused hacked her cousin college girl, Habiba Akter Shampa to death  at her residence in Kabiler Mor area in Bandar on April 28, 2013. Slain Habiba’s father Nasiruddin had filed a murder case with Bandar police accusing Touhid. A day after the incident police arrested Touhid and he gave confessional statement before the magistrate under section 164 of CrPC.
