Members of Coast Guard (east zone) seized 35,000 contraband yaba tablets from a fishing trawler in outer anchorage of Bay of Bengal early yesterday (Thursday). However, no one was arrested in this connection. “Acting on tip-off at around 1am a team of coast guard seized the yaba, during the drive coast guard could not arrest anyone,” said M Durul Huda, operation officer, coast guard (east zone). In another drive, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested two alleged drug peddlers along with 2.7 kg hemp, 100 litre liquor and Tk13, 724 from Hathazari upazila of Chittagong yesterday. The arrestees were identified as Md Mahabub, 56, and Md Mansur, 33.
