Over 13 lakh examinees are going to sit for the Higher Secondary School (HSC) exams today. Education ministry sources said they have taken all necessary preparations to hold the exams without any irregularities and warned that tougher action would be taken in case of any lapse in carrying out the tests. The theoretical exams will begin at 10am. The examinees would writ their Bangla paper today. A total of 1,351,505 examinees will write the exams under 10 education boards across the country. Among them, 664,496 are boys and 687,009 girls.
Under the eight general education boards, there are 1,138,747 examinees, while the numbers of examinees are 124,264 and 88,451 under the Technical Education Board and the Madrasa Education Board respectively. The minister has taken 22 types of measures, including
closing of coaching centres, to hold the exams without any irregularities like question paper leak. The examinees have to enter into the centres before 30 minutes. If anyone enters the exam hall late, his/her reason for the delay would be recorded in a register book and the matter would be informed to the respective boards.
No one is allowed to use any electronic device like mobile phones in the exam hall. Only the centre secretary is allowed to use a phone for the purpose of using the phone in case of any emergency.
Education minister Dr Dipu Moni called upon the examinees and guardians not to pay heed to the rumour of question paper leak during the exams. She will pay a visit to the Shideswari Girls College centre at 9:30pm today, according to ministry sources.
The examinees will sit at 9,081 centres under 2,579 educational institutions this year. A total of 275 examinees—127 boys and 148 girls—will sit for the exams at eight overseas centres.
As per the schedule, the theoretical examinations will continue till 11 May.
