Malaysia’s ousted prime minister is scheduled to go on trial next week over a massive financial scandal that helped topple his government, a prosecutor said yesterday. Najib Razak had originally been due to stand trial in February over allegations linked to his involvement in the looting of Malaysian sovereign wealth fund 1MDB.
He and his cronies are accused of plundering billions of dollars from the investment vehicle and spending it on everything from high-end real estate to artworks in a fraud that stretched around the world.
