World Bank official found dead
UNB, Barishal
Police recovered the body of a World Bank official from a hotel in the city yesterday. The deceased was identified as Golam Mostafa. He worked as a consultant of a WB project.
Being informed by hotel staff, police recovered the body from the bathroom of a room of Hotel Arena, said Nurul Islam, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station, adding that the reason behind his death could not be known yet.
Worker dies falling off bldg
UNB, Dhaka
A construction worker died after falling from an under-construction building at the Secretariat yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Ashraful Islam, 21, son of Joynal Abedin of Nilphamari district.
The incident took place around 10:45 pm when Ashraful fell from the sixth floor of the under-construction building, leaving him injured, said Sub-inspector Saiful who was on duty at the Secretariat.
Later, he was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where the doctors declared him dead around 11:15 am.
Man stabbed dead in Khulna
UNB, Khulna
A man was stabbed to death by some miscreants at Musulmanpara in the city on Wednesday night. The deceased was identified as Mizanur Rahman, 50, a contractor by profession and son of Zaharul Haq of Shibpur area. Humayun Kabir, officer-in-charge of Khulna Sadar Police Station, said a group of miscreants swooped on Mizanur and stabbed him indiscriminately over previous enmity while going to his residence in Bagmara around 10:40 pm, leaving him injured.
Later, he was taken to Khulna Medical College Hospital where the doctors declared him dead around 11:30 pm.
Students to get deworming pills

Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) has set a target to feed 98,033 students aged between five and 16 years deworming tablets in the city.
In addition to 481 primary and secondary level schools, all other madrasas, mosque-based schools and orphanages will be brought under the deworming programme as part of the National Phylariasis Eradication and Worm Control Week- 2019 scheduled to be observed from April 5.
The RCC authorities revealed this while addressing an advocacy meeting with all stakeholders in its conference hall here yesterday. Panel Mayor Shariful Islam addressed the meeting as chief guest while Chief Health Officer Dr AFM Anjuman Ara Begum welcomed the participants.
Chaired by Ward Councilor Md Nuruzzaman, the meeting was addressedd, among others, Divisional Director of Health Dr Gopendra Nath Acharya, RCC Chief Executive Officer Shawgatul Alam, Secretary Rejaul Islam, Deputy Director of Department of Social Services Rashedul Kabir and Regional Deputy Director of Secondary and Higher Education Dr Sharmin Ferdous Chowdhur.
NU degree exam to begin April 20

Degree pass and certificate course first year examinations- for academic year 2018 under National University (NU) are set to begin from April 20.
The examinations will start at 2pm from April 20 to May 4 while it will start at 9am from May 5 to May 23, a press release said today. Detailed information related to examinations will be available on websites— www.nu.edu.bd and www.nu.edu.bd/degree.
