The University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh at a meeting on Wednesday discussed with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) the proposed Tertiary Education for Competitiveness in Information Technology Project (IT). UGC Chairman Prof Abdul Mannan presided over the meeting held at the UGC, said a press release.
At the meeting, ADB and other stakeholders of the project discussed the Development Project Proposal (DPP). Dhaka University, Bangladesh University of Engineering Technology (Buet), Jessore University of Science and Technology and East West University will benefit of the proposed three-year ADB project.
Gi Soon Song, in-charge of ADB’s Human and Social Development Division, said ADB wants best utilisation of proposed $125 million project for capacity building of IT professionals and improvement of infrastructure of higher educational institutions in Bangladesh.
The UGC chairman said under this project, the four universities will be able to produce quality graduates and contribute to developing Bangladesh as a middle-income country by 2021.
