Two cops suspended

Barishal Metropolitan Police authorities on Wednesday night suspended Assistant Sub Inspector Aminul Islam and Constable Riazul Islam for negligence of duty.
An under trial prisoner named Dukhu Mia fled from Barishal Sher-e- Bangla Medical College Hospital (SBMCH) on Tuesday morning.
Nasiruddin Mallik, assistant commissioner of detective branch and spokesman of Barishal Metropolitan Police said, Investigation has been started whether there was any negligence of duty of the suspended cops.
Mentionable that Dukhu Mia, an under trial prisoner, in child kidnapping case lodged with Fatulla police station of Dhaka, was arrested from Palashpur slum area of the city on March 4, 2019 by police investigation bureau .
During arrest Dukhu Mia attempted to commit suicide by cutting his throat and immediately admitted at ENT ward at third floor of the SBMCH under police custody.
On Tuesday morning he went to toilet of the ward with handcuff and managed to flee, said Nurul Islam, officer in charge of Barishal Kotwali police station.
