The government has decided to relocate the Tejgaon truck stand to reduce the capital’s traffic jam in and around the area. The relocation of stand will be completed in phases.
“We won’t allow any truck and covered van on the roads in the capital’s Tejgaon areas. The owners of trucks and covered vans will keep their vehicles in railways land in first phase. The railway land will be freed through removing illegal structures,” Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan told reporters after a meeting on shifting of Tejgaon truck stand held at shipping ministry yesterday.
The meeting also decided that ministers for LGRD, road transport and bridges, shipping, railway and home affairs, including DNCC mayor will visit the truck stand on October 27 in the afternoon. The concerned department will monitor so that none could able to operate any garage inside the stand.
Besides, multi-storey buildings will be constructed around the capital for truck stand, the meeting decided.
