Yaba tablets worth Tk 20cr seized in Ctg

A huge consignment of yaba tablets to tune of 6.80 lakh pieces were seized yesterday (Wednesday) morning from a fishing trawler at the outer anchorage of Chittagong Port.
The Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) and Bangladesh Coast Guard East seized the haul worth about Tk 20 crore after conducting a joint drive.
Two persons were also arrested in connection of the yaba haul. The arrestees were identified as Faridul Alam, 40 and Abul Kalam, 35. Both of them are residents of Anwara upazila in Chittagong.  
Ali Aslam, Deputy Director of the DNC (Chittagong Metro) confirmed The Independent the haul of the contraband pills.
The narcotics control officials suspect that the yaba traders loaded the consignment at Teknaf in Cox’s Bazar after sourcing the pills from Myanmar. The consignment of the contraband tablets was destined for different parts of the country from Chittagong.
