BGB sends sweetmeat to BSF on Independence Day

UNB, Panchagarh

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) sent sweetmeat to Indian Border Security Force (BSF) on Tuesday, marking the 49th Independence and National Day of Bangladesh.

Commanding officer of BGB Battalion-18 Lt Col Ershadul Haque said they sent sweetmeat to BSF members of border post-53 and four battalions through different border points in the district to enhance the ties between the border forces of the two neighbouring countries. He said BSF also sends sweetmeat to BGB on national days of India.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Man killed ‘by elder brother’

A man was killed allegedly by his younger brother at village Shahpur in Chuadanga Sadar yesterday.

The deceased was identified as Sujon Ahmed, 26, son of Abdul Hakim of village Shahpur in the upazila.

According to police sources, Sujon went to Saudi Arabia in search of a job, but as he did not have any legal documents he   had to return home. After he came back he became frustrated and got addicted to drugs. On the day of the incident, Sujon and his elder brother Abdul Kader logged into a quarrel over some family issues. At one stage, Abdul attacked him with a sharp weapon leaving him dead.

Later, Abdul surrendered to police and confessed his offence. A case was filed with Chuadanga Police Station in this regard.

Boy dies as tree falls on him

UNB, Kurigram

A schoolboy was killed as a tree branch fell on him during a nor’wester at Islampur village in Bhurungamari upazila on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Sumir Uddin, a Class-VI student of a kindergarten and son of Mohar Ali of the village. OC of Bhurungamari Police Station Imtiaj Kabir said Sumir was returning home from his school amid a violent storm. Suddenly, a branch of a tree collapsed on him around 11:30am, leaving him severely injured.

Weeklong Military Hardware Exhibition begins in Jashore

A seven-day Military Hardware Exhibition began at Jashore Cantonment field here on Sunday on the occasion of the Independence Day and National Day.

Jashore Area Commander and General Officer Commanding of 55th Infantry Division Major General Ataul Hakim Sarwar Hasan inaugurated the exhibition.

Bangladesh Army is exhibiting their hardware, including weapons in the display.
