BNP for natl unity to restore democracy

BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir yesterday called for national unity for carrying out a series of movements to restore democracy in the country. He made the call while addressing a doa and milad mahfil at the BNP central office at Naya Paltan in the city.
Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, student front of the BNP, organised the prayer, seeking early recovery of party chairperson Khaleda Zia, who is now in London to receive medical treatment. The JCD also organised similar programmes at city, university and upazila levels across the country.
Mirza Fakhrul alleged that the people's rights are being taken away gradually. He claimed that not only BNP leaders and activists but many common people are being subjected to repression. “In this circumstance, national unity is of paramount importance to restore democracy in the country,” he added.

The BNP leader said no democratic movement has ever failed to hit the mark in Bangladesh.
He expressed hope that pro-democratic people would restore the democracy by defying all modes of repression and oppression. He also expressed hope that Khaleda Zia would return home soon after completion of her treatment.
It may be mentioned that the former premier went to London on September 16 for her medical check-up and eye treatment.
BNP leader Abdullah Al Noman and Fazlul Haque Milon, Jubo Dal president Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal, and Monirul Haque Chowdhury, among others, were present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, the newly elected committee of the Rangamati district BNP yesterday met the party secretary general at the Naya Paltan office. District president Shah Alam and general secretary Dipen Talukder led the delegation.
