The body of Italian aid worker Cesare Tavella, who was killed by some miscreants on September 28 in the city’s Gulshan area, was handed over to the Italian Embassy yesterday morning.
Inspector of Detective Branch (DB) Jihad Hossian received the body on behalf of the embassy around 10am at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in presence of two embassy staffs, said Inspector Mozammel Haque, in-charge of DMCH police camp. Ceasare Tavella’s body was scheduled to be flown to Italy last night.
On September 28, Cesare Tavella, 50, project manager of PROOFS (Profitable Opportunities for Food Security) of the Netherlands-based non-governmental organisation ‘ICCO Tavella, 50, project manager of PROOFS (Profitable Opportunities for Food Security) of the Netherlands-based non-governmental organisation ‘ICCO Cooperation’, on Gulshan’s Rd 90, was shot by some miscreants at Gulshan in the city.
Later, he died from excessive loss of blood while being moved to nearby United Hospitals.
Since completion of the postmortem, the body was kept at the DMCH mortuary.
