All-rounder Shuvagata Hom Chowdhury, who will lead Bangladesh-A team in South Africa and Zimbabwe tour, said that they are going to tour at different two African countries with the hopes of winning series in both formats.
“We’ll play first in South Africa for warm-up tour and then play against Zimbabwe-A. We’re craving for winning all the series,” said Shuvagata Hom yesterday.
“With the combination of High Performance and national team players, the team has been formed for the tours. Hopefully all will help me and show their best performance for the team’s success,” Hom told media at their formal press conference before flying for South Africa.
The newly-appointed skipper said that he is hopeful of getting all players service.
“He (Mosaddek Hossain) is a talented player. He is playing well in domestic cricket. There are some other players beside him in the team. I’m confident of getting their service and supports from all on the stroke of the tours,” he insisted.
He said he is sharpening his bowling and batting performance whenever he gets chance as he wants to build-up him as an all-rounder.
“I try to extend my innings during my batting. Along with that, I try to take more wickets in bowling session. I’m working hard to improve my bowling and batting whenever I got chance as I thought myself as batting all-rounder. I’ll try to continue the performance that I did in the last away series in India,” he pointed out.
On the other hand, ‘A team’ manager Habibul Bashar Sumon said that he will try to give them idea about the wicket before the start of
the series.
“We’ll get three days before the onset of the tour. We’ll try to make our habituation with the condition. Along with that, I’ve previous experiences to tour there. I’ll also share it with them,” Sumon said.
Bangladesh-A team left Dhaka for South Africa for a warm-up tour leading into the official tour against Zimbabwe A yesterday.
In the month-long tours, the second string Bangladesh team will play a string of different format games at two different countries. They will start their South Africa and Zimbabwe campaign with one-dayer.
The visiting team will play three-match ODI series and a 3-day match after landing first in South Africa. All the matches will be held at Irene Villagers Club Ground against different opponents.
The first and second one-day match of the tour will be held against Irene Villagers Club on October 19 and 27 respectively. The lone 3-dayer will take place at the same ground in between the first and second one-dayers from 21-23 October. The last one-dayer will be played against Gauteng Strikers on October 29 at the same venue.
Thereafter, the visiting team will tour Zimbabwe, where they will play three-match one- day series and two-match 4-dayers against Zimbabwe-A.
In Zimbabwe, all the one-day matches of the series will be staged at Queen’s Sports Club on November 2, 4 and 6 correspondingly. The two 4-dayers will be taken place at Bulawayo Athletic Club on October 9-12 and 15-18.
