RAB arrests Jatiyatabadi Cyber Dal leader

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested the president of the Jatiyatabadi Cyber Dal with the charges of cheating by misleading public information about the Liberation War, spreading anti-state propaganda, editing images of important government personalities and spreading those through social media outlets.

A team of RAB-3 arrested Ashek Ahmed (40), from Tejgaon area in the capital, said RAB-3 commander Lt Col Imranul Hasan yesterday at a press briefing at its media centre in Karwan Bazar.

“Allegation against Ashek ahmed is spreading confusing information and false rumors on Facebook page and misguiding people through social media. He was spreading false number of martyrs in the Liberation War and also posted anti-liberation campaign in the social media,” the commander added.

“Ahmed had made a ton of money through his fraudulent activities conducted using the name of some of the top government officials including members of different armed forces”, he said.
