Foreigners held with 48 gold bars

Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate on Sunday seized 48 gold bars, worth about Taka 7.96 crore, from a foreign national at the Green Channel of the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) here. “A Chinese citizen identified as Buyan Jinfeng, 43, was arrested for carrying unauthorised 48 gold bars,” Othelo Chowdhury, deputy commissioner of Dhaka Customs, told BSS. He added: “During the preliminary investigation, he confessed his involvement in bringing gold bars.” The detainee landed here form Dubai by an aircraft (flight no EK-582) of Emirates Airlines around 8 am.
