BRTA will take necessary steps for ensuring smoking-free environment in public transport, said BRTA Chairman (Additional Secretary) Moshiar Rahman. “Smoking in public vehicles is a common practice, and although prohibited by law we still find people smoking in buses and other vehicles. To stop smoking in public transport drive against such acts will continue”, he said.
He said this while speaking at a meeting jointly organised by Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) and Dhaka Ahsania Mission (DAM) at BRTA headquarters in the capital yesterday, says a press release. Presided over by the Director (Training) Sirajul Islam, former additional secretary of Health and Family Welfare ministry Mohammad Ruhul Kuddus, Manager of Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids Abdus Salam Miah and health sector (Head) of Dhaka Ahsania Mission Iqbal Masud. Director and Project Coordinator of DAM Mukhlesur Rahman presented the keynote paper.
