Cabin crew confesses to involvement

Saudi Airlines cabin crew Saima Akhter has confessed to her involvement in gold smuggling as she gave statement under section 164 before a court here yesterday. Saima made the confessional statement before the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Atikul Islam and the court after that sent her to jail.

 “She was produced before the court after end of her two-day remand. She then gave her confessional statement before the court,” a court official said.

The court on March 21 yesterday put Saima on two-day remand in two cases lodged over gold smuggling. Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Didar Hossain passed the order as investigation officer Safikul Islam produced Saima and her colleague Farjana Afroza before the court after their first round of remand and pleaded to put Saima on seven days of fresh remand. Allowing the plea in part, the court put Saima on two-day remand and sent Farjana to jail.
