2 die from food poisoning
Two siblings died from food poisoning after eating biryani (rice) at Baghguzara Mehernama village in Pekua upazila of Cox’s Bazar early yesterday, reports UNb.
The deceased were Mahi Akhter, 9, and her sister Mili Akhter, 5, daughters of Mizanur Rahman.
Locals said Mizanur purchased four packets of biryani from ‘Kendi Biryani House’ at Chokoria Shopping Complex in Chokoria upazila on Tuesday evening.
Later, he went to his home at Baghguzara Mehernama village and ate the food item along with his wife and two daughters Mahi and Mili. Some hours later, all of the family members fell sick and later they were whisked off to a local hospital where Mahi and Mili died around 4am.
Officer-in-charge of Chokoria police station Provash Chandra Dhar confirmed the incident.

23 BNP, Jamaat men sent to jail
A court in Jessore on Tuesday sent 23 local leaders and activists of BNP and Jamaat to jail rejecting their bail prayers in two cases filed for subversive activities and carrying explosives, reports UNB.
According to the case statement, tipped off that a group of BNP-Jamaat men were staying in Telidhanyopura area of Bagharpara upazila in Jessore, a team of police conducted a drive there during the hartal and blockade programme enforced by the BNP-led 20-party alliance on January, 2014.
Sensing presence of the law enforcers, the BNP-Jamaat men managed to flee the scene.
Later, police recovered huge firearms from the spot.
Besides, police recovered some bombs from a local BNP office in Narkelbaria Bazar during the hartal.
In those connections, police filed two separate cases-one under the Explosive Act and another under the Anti-terrorism Act. When the 23 BNP-Jamaat leaders and activists surrendered before the court in the afternoon and sought bail, Senior Judicial Magistrate Shajahan Ali sent them to jail rejecting the prayers.

Teenager killed in C’nawabganj
OUR CORRESPONDENT, Chapainawabganj

A teenaged boy was killed by unidentified criminals at Sahapara in Chapainawabganj town on Tuesday night.
The deceased was identified as Gopal Saha, 18, of the aforesaid area. Shyamol Saha, elder brother of the deceased said after killing his brother the criminals informed them over mobile phone that Gopal committed suicide by taking poison. Later, they found the dead body at the bank of the River Mohananda at Sahapara in the morning and rushed him to the Chapainawabganj Sadar Hospital where the doctor on duty declared him dead.
