Dhaka University authority has chalked out an elaborate programme in observance of the Mourning Day today in a befitting manner, reports BSS.
The day is being observed as the Mourning Day since 1985 in memory of those resident and non-resident students, employees and guests killed in a building collapse (former Assembly House) at Jagannath Hall of the university. The programmes of the day, include hoisting of black flags at all the dormitories and the principal buildings of the university, lowering of the university flag at half-mast and wearing of black badges at 6 am, bringing out a mourning procession from the foot of 'Aparajeya Bangla' sculpture towards Jagannath Hall Memorial, placing of wreaths and observance of silence there at 7.30 am as a mark of respect to those killed in the tragedy. Besides, a discussion will be held at the Television Room of the October Memorial Building at 8 am that will be followed by rayer sessions of Hindus, Buddhists and Christians at 9 am.
