Man hacked dead ‘by son’

A man was hacked to death allegedly by his son at Gulotia village in Manikganj sadar upazila on Monday.

The deceased was identified as Anwar Hossain Khan, 85, of Gulotia village in Sadar upazila of the district.

Soon after the killing, police arrested the victim's son Tanjimi Hasan in senseless condition from Dawtia village, some 3 kilometers away from the spot.

Quoting the locals, officer-in-charge of Manikganj Sadar Police Station Rokbujjaman said Anwar and his only son Tanjimi Hasan, 28 were living in a house. Anwar has been paralysed for 10 years.

Hassan used to take care of him as there was no one else in the family. On Sunday night, the victim and son fell asleep in the same house as usual. In the morning, Tanjimi's uncle came to the house and found Anwar dead.

On information, police recovered the throat-slit body from the spot.
