A Dhaka court yesterday sentenced a former police official to seven-year imprisonment in a case filed by Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) for amassing illegal wealth. Dhaka divisional special judge Syed Kamal Hossain passed the order sentencing former police sergeant Azhar Ali under two sections Anti Corruption Commission Act, 2004. The ACC filed the case against Ali with Ramna Police Station on February 27, 2012 for amassing illegal wealth of more than Taka 1.12 crore. The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) submitted a charge-sheet against Ali on June 14, 2105, and the court on March 16, 2016, framed charges against him.
