With the new shape and more organised way than its maiden version, the second edition of the BCB Academy Cup Cricket Tournament, organised by BCB Games Development, will begin on March 18.
A total of 32 private cricket academy teams including four new academy teams across the country, splitting into eight groups, will take part in the tournament whose grouping had been done by lottery in the presence of the participating teams’ representatives last week.
BCB Games Development senior national manager AEM Kawser revealed all to The Independent at his BCB office of the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) in Mirpur recently after holding a pre-tournament meeting with the participating teams’ officials.
“This year we, BCB Games Development have brought some important changes in the tournament to make it as a complete tournament for the youth cricketers. Among the changes, we’ve brought it ahead a bit more than the erstwhile edition so that it did not affect by the seasonal rains,” said AEM Kawser.
“The tournament has been done for the cricketers of the Under-16 in place of the Under-18. Along with that, it has been decorated in such a way, where in each team will get opportunity to play three matches at group stage,” Kawser told this reporter.
