The investigation agency of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has finalised its report on probe into the alleged crimes against humanity committed by five Mymensingh war crimes accused. The five accused include Md Kitab Ali Fakir, 85, Md Janab Ali, 68, and Md Abdul Kuddus, 68. The investigation agency refrained from revealing the identities of the remaining two as they are yet to be arrested.
“The five were directly involved with crimes against humanity including abduction, confinement, torture, rape, murder and deportation in different places of greater Mymensingh in 1971,” said investigation agency chief coordinator Muhammad Abdul Hannan Khan.
The probe body revealed the information about the investigation at a press briefing held at its Dhanmondi office yesterday morning.
“Investigation officer Monwara Begum launched the investigation August 6, 2017, and concluded on March 7, 2019. During the investigation she has recorded testimonies of 40 people, and made 24 of them witnesses. The total number of prosecution witnesses in the case would be 25 including the investigation officer,” Khan added. It was the 68th probe report finalized by the agency of the ICT.
