Tk 333.76cr Rajshahi City Corporation budget okayed

RCC expects Taka 216.78 cr of the budget from different project grants

RAJSHAHI: Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) has approved an earning- expenditure balanced budget worth about Taka 333.76 crore for 2015-16 fiscal, reports BSS. The proposed budget was approved in special general meeting at the city bhaban conference hall with ward councilor Abdul Hamid Sarkar Tekon in the chair yesterday. President of Finance Standing Committee Mustaque Hossain Ratan placed the budget before the meeting. The meeting also passed a revised budget worth Taka 239.91 crore for the current 2014-15 FY.
RCC expects Taka 216.78-cr of the budget from different project grants while the rest amount from various rates and fees and different development assistant grants. The grants include Tk 99.86 crore from annual development programme, Tk 81.38 crore from Bangladesh Municipal Development Fund and Tk 35.50 crore from development assistance grant. On the other hand, Taka 80.43 crore will be spent for salary and allowances of the RCC officials and staffs and Taka 216.78 crore for uplift purposes. Ward Councilors, Chief Executive Officer Ajahar Ali, Secretary Syeda Jebin Nissa Sultana, Chief Revenue Officer Khandakar Mahbubur Rahman and Chief Health Officer Dr Anjuman Ara Begum were present at the meeting. Referring to bringing transparency and accountability in the uplift programmes, the meeting said no works would be kept hidden and everything would be reflected in the next budget. The city corporation has been implementing five major projects involving Taka 427.31 crore at present aims at bringing a qualitative change particularly in the field of infrastructural and environmental elevation in the metropolis. The projects are infrastructural development, city bhaban construction, road widening, east-west connecting road and drainage. The city corporation has also planned twelve other projects which are waiting for government approval. It has been implementing the make Rajshahi Green project and step has been taken to plant more than 10,000 tree saplings during the 2015-16 fiscal.On the occasion, the meeting also mentioned that different other infrastructural and need-oriented programs have been adopted in the city.
