�Country makes good progress in meeting nutritional demand�

Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury yesterday said Bangladesh has made a good progress in fulfilling people's demand for nutrition in the past couple of year, reports BSS. She made the comment when Country Representative of UNICEF Bangladesh Edouard Beigbeder called on the Speaker at her office at Jatiya Sangsad, an official release said yesterday. Dr Shirin said the present government is sincerely working in the field of nutrition in order to build a healthier nation improving nutritional status of the people. Due to effective policy initiative, the country has been able to reduce both maternal and child mortality rate, she added. The UNICEF representative lauded different development achievements of Bangladesh including reducing child and maternal mortality, stopping child marriage and expansion of primary education. He stressed the need for involving members of the parliament in all development activities to boost further progress of Bangladesh.
