SC upholds Falu’ bail

The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court yesterday upheld a High Court order granting bail to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s adviser Mosaddek Ali Falu in an arson case.
After hearing an appeal filed by the government against the HC order, the four-member bench of the Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha passed the order.
Supreme Court Bar Association President Khandaker Mahbub Hossain moved for the accused in the hearing while additional attorney general Murad Reza represented the state.
Earlier on Apr 12, Falu secured bail from the HC in an arson case filed with Khilgaon police station. The HC also issued a four weeks’ rule on the govt the same day seeking to know why a permanent bail would not be granted to him.
DB police detained Falu near Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan office on Feb 1. He was later shown arrested in three cases.
