Chittagong University (CU) authorities have taken punitive actions, including revoking studentship and withholding certificates, against 16 students on various charges.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the Board of Residence Health and Disciplinary Committee held on Tuesday with CU Vice-chancellor Prof Iftekhar Uddin Chowdhury in the chair, said assistant proctor of the university Niaz Morshed Ripon.
He said the actions were taken against the students for various crimes, including their involvement in clashes and militancy. Of the students, the studentship of Md Moin Newaj was revoked while the certificates of Md Jamshedul Kabir and Md Anwar Hossain were withheld.
Syed Fahim Jafari, Mosharraf Hossain Sikder, HM Hasanuzzaman, Mizanur Rahman Fakir and Md Sabbir Hossain were suspended for one year while Md Imran Nazir Emon, Ziaul Haque Majumdar, Dipayan Dev, Md Sabirul Islam, Arnab Barua, Jubayer Ahmed and Md Mamun-or-Rashid for six months.
