DU BCL men beat up student

A student of Dhaka University (DU ) was beaten up allegedly by Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activists on Tuesday night over previous enmity. The victim was Mir Kashem, a third year student of Tourism and Hospitality department of the university.    

Sources said Mukbul Hussain, one of the followers of Imam Hasan, joint secretary of Kabi Jasimuiddin Hall of Chattra League, was allegedly beaten up by Mir Kashem and another student Rasel Ahmed of third year law department recently. Mukbul got four stitches on head in that incident.     

Imam Hasan along with his followers comprising 10-12 locked into an altercation with Mir Kashem at badminton court of Kabi Jasimuiddin Hall around 12am on Tuesday night and one stage they beat up him indiscriminately leaving Kashem injured.

Kashem was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) yesterday for treatment. No investigation committee was formed by the university authorities in this connection.

When contacted Kabi Jasimuiddin Hall Provost Prof Dr Rahamatulluh said he didn’t get any complaint in this regard.
