The Prosecution at the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-2 yesterday continued placing arguments in the crimes against humanity case against Forkan Mallik, alleged Razakar Commander from Mirzaganj of Patuakhali, reports BSS. Prosecutor Mokhlesur Rahman Badal continued his arguments for the state and concluded arguing on first two charges out of the total five. After the day’s hearing, Justice Obaidul Hassan, chairman of the three-member panel of the ICT-2, adjourned it till today.
The prosecution yesterday mentioned that Forkan was directly involved in killings of local Awami League leader Dr Debendranath, his wife Diba Rani and Hafez Khalifa. Advocate Abdus Salam Khan, counsel for Forkan, was present at the courtroom during the hearing. A total of 14 prosecution witnesses, including the investigation officer, testified against Forkan. The second tribunal on December 18, 2014, indicted Mallik and framed five specific charges of crimes against humanity
including murder, rape, torture and forced conversion. Police arrested Forkan on June 25, and he is in jail since then.
