Stock markets witnessed flat yesterday due to lower activities of some large-cap securities.
The falling major sectors were financial institutions, food and allied and textile. A total of 131 securities of the large-cap group moved down due to lower activities.
The broader DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the day with 9.91 points up at 5,745.83. The blue-chip DS30 and the Shariah DSES also followed the same trend with 5.35 points down at 1,312.91 and with 7.18 points down at 2,005.18 respectively.
At the DSE, out of the day’s 345 securities, prices of 123 securities closed higher against 170 losing issues.
The major gaining issues were Monno Ceramics, MERCINS, Style Craft, Provati Insurance and Sonar Bangla Insurance while the major losing issues were First Finance, Emerald Oil, Savar EFR, Jute Spinning and Saiham Textile.
UPGDCL topped the turnover list followed by Monno Ceramics, Square Pharma, BSCCL and Legacy Foot.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with slightly up with its major CASPI 17.09 points up at 17,585.15.
At the CSE, a total of 256 issues were traded while 88 closed higher and 131 closed lower when 52.11 lakh shares worth Tk 18.37 crore changed hands.
