Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday told parliament that the government has decided to modify the primary education curricula by 2020.
"A decision has been taken to modify the primary-level curricula to introduce new education activities at primary schools," she said replying to a starred question from Awami League MP Mohammad Shahiduzzaman (Meherpur-2).
The Prime Minister said the curricula from pre-primary level to Class-V will be revised within 2019-20 and textbooks to be printed in line with the new curricula will be given to students next year.
She also mentioned different measures taken to make teachers of government educational institutions attentive to teaching in classrooms.
Hasina said the government has a plan to arrange seven-day foreign trips or overseas training for 7,000 primary school teachers, including the best ones, at national, divisional, district and upazila levels.
In reply to a supplementary question from treasury bench MP Dr Shamil Uddin Ahmed Shimul (Chapainawabganj-1), the Prime Minister said the government has a goal to establish a digital university in every division by phases.
