Man held with firearms, ammo

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested an alleged firearms-trader with two foreign pistols and some ammunition in the district yesterday.

The arrested person was identified as Nazmul Hossain, 26, son of Nazrul Islam of Krishnapur village under Bholahat upazila, RAB officials said.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of the elite force conducted a drive in Bargachhia Bazar area under the same upazila around 1.30 pm and arrested Nazmul Hossain.

They seized two foreign pistols with four magazines, 14 rounds of bullet, a mobile phone set, four SIM-cards and Taka 1,140 in cash from his possession.

Quoting his confessional statement the RAB officials said the arrested person was involved in firearms trafficking and trading for long.

Later, the arrested along with the seized arms and ammunition were handed over to police.
