Badrul, Ayub elected president, GS

BNP-backed Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Oikya Parishad candidate lawyer ASM Badrul Anwar and Awami League (AL) backed Chattogram Sommilito Ainjibi Somonnoy Parishad Ayub Khan have been elected president and general secretary (GS) respectively of Chattogram District Bar Association (CDBA).

Chief Election Commissioner Advocate Anwarul Haque Chowdhury on Monday night declared the polls results of Chattogram District Bar Association (CDBA), country’s second largest professional body of the lawyers. Of the total 19 posts, pro-BNP and pro-Awami League lawyers’ panel secured nine posts each while an independent candidate got a single post.

ASM Badrul Anwar was elected president receiving 1,235 votes while his nearest competitor advocate Sayed Mostaq Ahmed came second with 802 votes, the CEC said.
