The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) yesterday claimed to have cracked the mystery of a murder committed in 2018. It arrested a person, Yunus Ali (25), in connection with the murder.
Yunus killed his wife in September last year, according to a press release of the PBI. According to the statement, Yunus Ali, a garments worker, used to work with Hosne Ara (35). Although both of them were married to other people, they fell in love and got married.
Yunus knew all about Hosne Ara’s past life, but did not reveal his own. They rented a house in Ashulia Nischitapur Yunus did not disclose his real identity while he rented the house. He also kept his name secret when he married Hosne Ara. However, Hosne Ara became skeptical as Yunus continued to keep in touch with his first wife. They were often embroiled in bitter quarrels.
Later, Yunus shared the problem with one of his relatives and they made a plot to kill Hosne Ara.
On September 6, Yunus strangled Hosne Ara to death and kept the body in the bathroom.
After committing the murder, Yunus took her mobile phone, gold earring, anklet and went to his first wife’s house in Natore.
Two days later, locals found Hosne Ara's body in the house and informed the Ashulia police station about the incident. The police recovered the body.
Later, the victim’s sister, Sapna Begum, filed a case accusing 'Yusuf' instead of Yunus as they did not know his real name. After three months of futile probe by Ashulia police, the victim’s family requested the PBI to take up the case.
On December 11 last year, the PBI began the investigation and handed over the case to Saleh Imran.
Saleh Imran, a PBI sub-inspector, told The Independent: “With the help of local sources and technology, we found that the main accused was Yunus Ali and not Yusuf." “After confirming his involvement, we arrested Yunus from Natore district on February 11,” he added.
During primary interrogation, Yunus confessed to the crime.
Based on the information revealed by him, the PBI recovered Hosne Ara's mobile phone and anklet, said Saleh Imran.
