12 drug peddlers surrender to police

Twelve drug addicts and peddlers of the district town surrendered  at Chandpur model police station on Tuesday afternoon.

They are: Md Shuman Majhee (32), Al Amin (22), Merajul Islam Real Patwary (34), Manik Patwary (38), Md Jahidul Islam Tuhin (39), Alamgir Bepary (48), Ashikur Rahman Rony (20), Mofizul Islam (16), Mizan Gazi alias Koshai Mizan (35), Imam  Hossain Pavel (32), Md Sajib Hossain Shetu (21), and Md Russel Bepary (25).

A small ceremony was held on the police sttaion premises in this regard, with officer-in-charge (OC) Md Nasimuddin in the chair. ASP Circle Jahid Parvez Chowdhury, OC (investigation) Harunor Rashid, second officer Md Monir Ahmed, other officials of the police station, and guardians of the drug addicts and peddlers, were present on the occasion.

On January 26, 47 drug addicts and peddlers surrendered to Chandpur police super Md Jihadul Kabirat a similar function held at the same time at the same venue.

Speaking on the occasion, Jahid Parvez Chowdhury said: "The Government has declared zero tolerance against drugs, militancy and terrorism.

 We're working hard to implement this policy in Chandpur. So, we gave drug addicts and peddlers an opportunity  to surrender. To their credit, they took the chance and surrendered to us. We welcome them in our midst and wish them a healthy life in future."
