State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Enamur Rahman yesterday said the government remains prepared round the clock to face any natural disasters. He came up with the remarks while taking to journalists after inaugurating international seminar titled “Prevention of Casualties of Paralysed People” at Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Paralysed (CRP).
“All necessary preparations have been have completed to hold a peaceful and hassle-free Biswa Ijtema. We are ready to face any situation,” he said.
Biswa Ijtema, one of the largest congregations of the Muslims, will be held for four days in a single phase from February 15 on the bank of the Turag River in Tongi.
Taking about the upcoming upazila elections, the state minister said “In fact, if they (BNP) do not take part in the upcoming elections, the party’s existence may face threat.”
Over 100 nurses from nearly one hundred government hospitals participated in the seminar.
The seminar was also attended by several high officials of the CRP, including its coordinator Valerie Ann Taylor and executive director Md Shafiqul Islam.
