Bashundhara Kings maintained their winning streak in the Bangladesh Premier League football when they defeated Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra by 3-1 yesterday at the Sheikh Fazlul Haque Moni Stadium in Gopalganj.

Shusanta Tripura opened the scoring early inside 10 minutes, Matin Meah doubled the advantage at the midway of the second half following Yousuke Kato’s equaliser for Muktijoddha in the first half and Colindres, the World Cup booter completed the rout on 75th minute to make the tally 3-1.

Bashundhara, the sensational newcomers in the Bangladesh Premier League, who won the Independent Cup trophy leaving behind all the traditional powerhouses, won their fourth league matches in a row. Coach Oscar Bruzon’s side showed plenty of enthusiasm and energy like their last three matches.

In their continuous winning run at the league debut, Bashundhara made their victims two giants on their way to grab the fourth successive wins.

Bashundhara, after winning the match against Muktijoddha yesterday equalled their tally with Abahani Limited assembling 12 points with Abahani playing one match more than the former.

Bashundhara won two matches at their home and continued the run at away ground also with beginning the league campaign defeating Sheikh Jamal (league runners up) by solitary goal and just trounced champions Abahani by 3-0 in the second match.

However, on the day in Gopalganj, Bashundhara, who played with better domination, opened the scoring in the 9th minute when Shusnata Tripura slammed home a corner of Colindres inside the area (1-0).

The home side, (Muktijoddha, who) had held their own until 15th minute, equalised the margin just 10 minutes later when their Japanese forward Yousuke Kato converted a penalty on 19th minute (1-1).

The visitors, and obviously the favourites should have the equaliser on 38th minute but their Brazilian forward Marcos could not beat Muktis keeper from a penalty when a defender made a danger tackle to Colindres inside the area, Marcos effort successfully denied by the  keeper.

But, after the one all first half, the new powerhouses became hostile to regain the lead but had to wait for almost 45 minutes after the 1-1 when they reclaimed the lead on 71st minute through the local boy Matin Meah properly drove a Marcos cross (1-2).

Colindres, the World Cup booter, who is the playmaker in every match, found the net on 75th minute in style when his set piece from the corner of the box went straight into the top corner of the far post (3-1).

Rahmatgnaj v NoFeL

At the Bangabandhu National Stadium in the day’s other match of the league, Rahmatganj and NoFel Sporting Club shared points after a 2-2 draw.

After the draw NoFel tasted their first point after playing four matches when Rahmatganj earned three points from five matches, as it was their third draw.

Siyo Zunapio and Monday Osagie scored one goal each for Rahmatganj when Roman and Ismail Bangura reduced one each for NoFel.

Rahmatganj had to play with ten players during last 29 minutes when Mohammed Sohel Rana was sent off after intentionally handed a ball inside the danger zone.
