Comilla Victorians captain Imrul Kayes said Thursday that he keeps Victorians ahead of Dhaka Dynamites in the final showdown of the current Twenty20 blockbuster tournament of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

Showing his arguments, Kayes said that they descended into the final by playing their better brand of cricket from the initial stage of the extravaganza event; even they thrashed the star-studded team twice in the league round matches.

But the captain admitted that their opponent side has more quality local and overseas all-rounders than them. Comilla have Shahid Afridi, Thisara Perera and Mohammad Saifuddin, while Dynamites are trimmed with Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Kieron Pollard and ace Shakib Al Hasan.

“We won two matches against them,” said Imrul Kayes. “We are ahead of them in terms of our confidence because when you beat a team, your confidence level will be remained high and that they will ultimately think much about their opposing side,” Kayes told media at their pre-final day intense practice session at the national academy ground of the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur yesterday.

“I think, it’s a positive side for us in the final,” he added.

The captain said that the result will come in favour of them if they could be done their work according to their game place against the opponent in the nerve-jangling BPL final.

“I am very happy that we have played better cricket from the initial stage to the final. Each and every cricketer of our team sought to play in the final,” he noted.

“Actually, the final match is a matter of luck. You never say that you can win the final after winning all the matches before the final. But we will try to play our best cricket and if we could do it, inshaallah the result in the final will come in our favour,” he maintained.

“It’s better to keep the planning inside us. It deems to me that it is not only me but also all the players have an excitement. Every player wants to play in the final and win the final to be the BPL champions,” he added.

He said that their possibility to be success will be bigger if they could play and enjoy as much as possible in the final.

“Keeping the nerve is very important. Those will be successful and victorious who execute their game plan keeping their head cool,” he thought.

“I think, much excitement could be dented the chance of success. We’ve discussed it in our team meeting. It’s impossible to swap everything by holding a day-practice,” he said.

“Tomorrow is the final match so everybody will be excited. But if we could enjoy as much as possible in the field, I think, the opportunity of the success will be bigger,” he added.

When asked him about his captaincy in BPL, he said, “I, meanwhile, got the feeling of being championed because I was a part of Comilla Victorians when they were championed in 2015.”

“Every player of the team is very much excited to play better cricket and give their best individual performance for the team in the final to be champion.”
