Three eateries were fined Taka 20,000 here on Wednesday for manufacturing and selling unhygienic and sub-standard food items.
A team of Department of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP) realised the fine conducting a raid in Bus Stand area in Bagha Upazila Headquarters of the district, Apurba Adhikary, assistant director of DNCRP said.
The team found the business entities – Mostofa Bakery, Jeshmin Bakery and Ripa Store- involved in preparing, possessing and selling consumer items in an unhygienic condition, he said adding that the shops were fined Taka 10,000, Taka 8,000 and Taka 2,000 respectively.
“Such drive against the violations of consumers’ rights would be continued in the days to come,” he added.
