Over 100 pupils attacked by mass hysteria

UNB, Chandpur

Over 100 students, mostly girls, of two schools in Kachua upazila fell sick reportedly due to mass hysteria yesterday noon. The incident took place at Nandanpur High School and Nandanpur Govt Primary School, locals said. All of them were taken to upazila health complex and different nearby private clinics. Seven of them were released from hospital after their condition improved.

Talking to UNB, Headmaster Haradhan Bhoumik of Nandanpur High School said Faria, a fifth grader, suddenly fell sick and became senseless around 12:30 pm.
Later, over 100 students from Class-V to Class-X of the two students fell sick.
Chandpur acting Civil Surgeon Dr Mahbubur Rahman said hysteria is not a serious disease. So there is nothing to worry.
He also directed the health complex doctors to take intensive care of the students.
